I’ve got an article coming out soon on io9.com about 24 of the weirdest and most wonderful lost film. Naturally, my initial list was much larger than just 24, so rather than let that research go to waste, I thought I’d post here those films which didn’t make the cut.
Starting off Lost Films Week…

Originally created by George Bronson-Howard as a serial in Radio News in 1922, it was filmed and released the same year. Directed by Robert F. Hill—already an experienced director, he’d go own to helm 115 films in his career—and starring the once-famous silent film cowboy Roy Stewart, The Radio King won such plaudits from critics as “Also showing is The Radio King” and “The Radio King folded today.”
What’s the film about?
Bradley Lane is what used to be called a “scientific detective,” someone who uses the latest technology to solve crimes. Lane’s specialty is radio, and he uses everything from bugs to microphones to wiretaps. A number of these are his own invention. He confronts the mad scientist Marnee. Marnee, the “Wizard of the Electrons,” is a wheelchair-bound agent of the Soviets who plans to CONQUER THE WORLD! Marnee has various advanced weapons at his disposal, including a “Master Wave” which will “nullify radio and electricity all over the world! Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha!” while Lane has an android he’s built which he uses to fool a would-be assassin. At length Lane triumphs and Marnee goes insane.
